Damascus: Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa met with US envoy Tom Barrack in Damascus to discuss the implementation of the March 10 agreement with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) aimed at safeguarding Syria's unity and sovereignty. The meeting also included Admiral Brad Cooper, Commander of US Central Command (CENTCOM).
According to Anadolu Agency, the discussions focused on the latest developments in Syria, supporting the political process, and enhancing security and stability. The parties examined mechanisms to implement the March 10 agreement, ensuring Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The March 10 agreement, announced by the Syrian presidency, aims to integrate the SDF into state institutions while emphasizing Syria's territorial integrity and rejecting any separatist agenda. However, the SDF has violated the agreement on multiple occasions.
Following the ouster of Bashar al-Assad last December, after 24 years in power, the Syrian government has intensified efforts to restore security across the nation. Assad's departure to Russia marked the end of the Baath Party's rule since 1963, with President Sharaa leading a transitional administration since January.
