Gaza: The Palestinian group Hamas announced that it has submitted a list of Palestinians it wishes to see released by Israel, following the signing of the first phase of a US-proposed Gaza ceasefire deal. The submission is part of a prisoner exchange agreement included in the ceasefire terms.

According to Anadolu Agency, Hamas communicated via Telegram that the release of Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails remains a priority. The group emphasized its commitment to continuing efforts until all Palestinian prisoners are freed. The agreement marks the first phase of US President Donald Trump's Gaza ceasefire plan, with appreciation expressed for the efforts of Trkiye, Qatar, and Egypt alongside the US.

Hamas's statement revealed that the ceasefire agreement involves an end to the conflict in Gaza, withdrawal of occupying forces, entry of humanitarian aid, and a prisoner exchange. This announcement follows Trump's declaration that both Israel and Hamas have approved the initial phase of the US-proposed Gaza deal.

The 20-point plan, announced on September 29, includes the release of all Israeli captives in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, a ceasefire, the disarmament of Hamas, and the reconstruction of Gaza. Following the Palestinian group's cross-border attack on October 7, 2023, approximately 250 hostages were taken to Gaza. Tel Aviv estimates that about 50 Israeli hostages remain in Gaza, with around 20 believed to be alive.

Currently, over 11,000 Palestinians are held in Israeli jails, with 3,544 detained without trial, as reported by the Israeli human rights group, the Center for the Defense of the Individual (HaMoked). Since October 2023, Israeli attacks have resulted in the deaths of nearly 67,200 Palestinians in the enclave, the majority being women and children.
