Zelenskyy to Meet Trump in Washington on Air Defense and Long-Range Capabilities

Washington: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced plans to meet US President Donald Trump in Washington, DC, to discuss Ukraine's air defense and long-range capabilities. The meeting is scheduled for Friday and will follow discussions Zelenskyy had with EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas in Kyiv.

According to Anadolu Agency, Zelenskyy expressed his intention to engage with "some military companies" during his visit to the US. Details about these engagements remain undisclosed. The Ukrainian leader's itinerary also includes meetings with members of the US Congress. Air defense and long-range capabilities will be primary topics of discussion, and Zelenskyy is also set to meet with energy companies, a meeting proposed by Trump.

Zelenskyy and Trump recently held two phone conversations over the weekend, focusing on bolstering Kyiv's air defense and long-range capabilities. Earlier this month, Trump indicated he was nearing a decision on whether to send long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine, following a request from Zelenskyy in late September.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed concern over the potential US decision to send Tomahawks to Ukraine, warning that it could severely damage US-Russian relations and lead to a significant escalation.
