Beijing: China said on Wednesday that it opposes 'external interference' in Venezuela's domestic affairs after US President Donald Trump announced a strike on a narcotics vessel. 'China opposes the threat of use of force in international relations and opposes external interference in Venezuela's domestic affairs under any pretext,' Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian stated during a news conference.

According to Anadolu Agency, Lin Jian emphasized that China supports combating cross-border crimes through stronger international cooperation. He criticized the US for its unilateral enforcement operations against other countries and vessels, urging the US to engage in normal law enforcement and judicial cooperation through bilateral and multilateral legal frameworks.

The comments from Beijing were in response to Trump's remarks on Tuesday, wherein he claimed that the US executed another strike on "a narco-trafficking vessel" near the Venezuelan coast. The operation reportedly resulted in the deaths of six alleged narcotics traffickers. This incident marked the fifth such strike by the US in recent weeks, targeting vessels suspected of carrying illegal drugs.
