Islamabad: Poland's top diplomat, Radoslaw Sikorski, expressed his country's commitment to promoting peace in the Gaza Strip by supporting a two-state solution during a visit to Islamabad. Speaking alongside his Pakistani counterpart, Ishaq Dar, Sikorski emphasized Poland's intent to contribute to international efforts aimed at stabilizing and rebuilding the Palestinian coastal enclave.

According to Anadolu Agency, Sikorski highlighted the necessity for a governance structure in Gaza and the importance of international community involvement to ensure security and facilitate reconstruction. During his two-day trip to Pakistan, he underscored the mutual support from both Poland and Pakistan in these efforts, referencing the historical cooperation between the two nations in UN peacekeeping missions.

Sikorski also mentioned Poland's potential participation in a task force as outlined in the US plan for Gaza, which aims to establish a temporary stabilization force to train and assist Palestinian police forces. While specific details of Poland's involvement were not disclosed, Sikorski reaffirmed Poland's support for peace initiatives led by US President Donald Trump and other international efforts to end the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

The diplomat's visit comes amid a ceasefire in Gaza following two years of conflict that resulted in significant casualties and infrastructure devastation. Sikorski's dialogue with Dar also covered bilateral issues, focusing on enhancing trade, defense cooperation, and fostering a stable and prosperous South Asia, aligning with Poland's interests in regional stability.

In his remarks, Sikorski expressed Poland's appreciation for Pakistan's regional and global peace efforts and reiterated the importance of collaboration between the two countries to achieve common goals.
