Istanbul: Istanbul Airport was once again the busiest airport in Europe last week with an average of 1,556 daily flights, said Turkey's transport minister on Friday. Istanbul Airport outpaced major European airports including Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Paris Charles de Gaulle, and London Heathrow during the period from October 13 to 19, as stated by Abdulkadir Uraloglu.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Turkish Riviera hub of Antalya Airport was also notable, securing the ninth position with an average of 957 flights per day. Uraloglu highlighted that a report by the European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation (Eurocontrol) for the same period placed Turkey sixth among European countries in terms of traffic volume, with an average of 3,841 flights per day. This achievement allowed Turkey to surpass countries like Greece, the Netherlands, Poland, and Norway.

Additionally, Uraloglu noted that Istanbul Airport ranked seventh globally among the top 25 airports, achieving an average of 790 daily departures from October 13 to 19.
