Kuala lumpur: US President Donald Trump announced that he is on his way to Malaysia, where a Cambodia-Thailand peace deal will be signed "immediately" upon his arrival.

According to Anadolu Agency, Trump made the announcement on Saturday, expressing his pride in brokering the peace agreement between Cambodia and Thailand. He shared the news via his Truth Social platform, highlighting the significance of the upcoming signing ceremony.

Trump also expressed his condolences to the people of Thailand following the passing of Queen Mother Sirikit. He acknowledged the loss, stating, "Sadly, the Queen Mother of Thailand has just passed away. I send my condolences to the Great People of Thailand."

In addition to the peace deal, Trump indicated his intention to meet with Thailand's prime minister during his visit. The president is scheduled to attend a dinner with ASEAN leaders and witness the signing of the peace accord, which follows recent border clashes between Cambodia and Thailand. The conflict ended in July after Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim successfully mediated a ceasefire.

Trump noted that the timing of the signing ceremony would be arranged to accommodate all parties involved, ensuring the presence of key stakeholders at the event.
