Hamas to Transfer Remains of Another Israeli Hostage Amid Gaza Ceasefire

Gaza: The Palestinian group Hamas announced on Tuesday that it will hand over the body of another Israeli hostage tonight. This action is part of the ongoing ceasefire agreement in Gaza.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, stated that the remains will be transferred at 8 pm local time (1800GMT). This follows the handover of the remains of an Israeli captive on Monday under the ceasefire deal, which came into effect on October 10 as part of a 20-point plan proposed by US President Donald Trump.

Since the commencement of the ceasefire, Hamas has released 20 living Israeli hostages and the bodies of 17 out of 28 deceased captives. However, Israeli officials have noted that one of the bodies recovered did not match any of their missing captives.

The ceasefire arrangement also includes plans for the rebuilding of Gaza and the formation of a new governing body, excluding Hamas. The conflict in Gaza has resulted in the deaths of over 68,500 people and injuries to more than 170,300 individuals since October 2023, as reported by Palestinian authorities.
