Islamabad: Pakistan's military on Monday stated that it has no agreement with the United States that permits the latter to conduct strikes in Afghanistan from Pakistani territory, as reported by Geo News.

According to Anadolu Agency, the statement was a response to accusations from Kabul, which alleged that Pakistan had a deal with the US allowing drone strikes to be launched from its land. Pakistani army spokesman Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry addressed a group of journalists, asserting that the allegations were untrue and that Pakistan has not permitted the US to initiate attacks on Afghanistan from its soil.

Sharif emphasized that there is no such agreement between Islamabad and Washington that would allow the US to strike Afghanistan, according to the broadcaster. This statement came after Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the interim administration in Afghanistan, claimed in an interview with Tolo News that American drones were operating in Afghan skies and were allegedly passing through Pakistani airspace, thus violating Afghanistan's airspace.

Mujahid further mentioned that Kabul has requested Islamabad to ensure that its land and airspace are not utilized against Afghanistan.
