Hanoi: Floods have killed at least 55 people in Vietnam and Indonesia's Papua, officials said on Tuesday, according to media reports. In Vietnam, the floods resulted in 40 fatalities, with six individuals still missing and 76 others injured, as reported by the Voice of Vietnam.

According to Anadolu Agency, the natural disaster wreaked havoc on infrastructure and agriculture, with 104 houses destroyed or swept away and 453 more suffering damage. Nearly 80,000 homes were inundated, severely impacting the affected communities. The floods also submerged over 10,800 hectares of crops and led to the loss of more than 68,500 livestock and poultry, exacerbating the crisis for local farmers.

In Indonesia's Papua province, flash floods that occurred on Saturday resulted in the disappearance of 15 people. The National Agency for Disaster Management reported that these individuals were found dead, and eight people remained unaccounted for as of Tuesday, as mentioned by the local broadcaster Kompas TV.
