Duhok: Two women kidnapped by the ISIS (Daesh) terrorist organization were rescued on Thursday after 11 years, bringing the total number of rescued Yazidis, an endogamous religious group in Iraq, to 3,593.

According to Anadolu Agency, Hussein Qaidi, head of the Kidnapped Yazidi Rescue Office under the Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) Presidency, announced at a press conference in Duhok, Iraq, that the two Yazidi women, aged 21 and 26, had been held captive by ISIS (Daesh) for 11 years and were rescued through ongoing efforts. Qaidi revealed that the women had endured repeated torture and were sold multiple times during their captivity.

Qaidi further noted that the total number of rescued Yazidis has now reached 3,593, but approximately 2,500 individuals remain missing. He emphasized that efforts are continuing to locate the missing Yazidis.

In August 2014, the ISIS (Daesh) terrorists seized the Sinjar district of Iraq's Mosul province, a region predominantly inhabited by the Yazidi community. During this attack, they abducted 6,417 Yazidis and killed many others.
