Luanda: The presidents of Angola and India have reached a significant agreement to enhance bilateral relations by expanding trade and investment into new sectors, including technology, energy, and defense. This decision was announced during a joint news conference in Luanda, where Indian President Droupadi Murmu made history as the first Indian head of state to visit Angola. She was accompanied by Angolan President Joao Lourenco.

According to Anadolu Agency, this visit marks a pivotal moment in the relationship between the two nations. President Murmu emphasized the importance of Angola in India's energy sector, highlighting the robust energy trade partnership that exists between the countries. She expressed optimism for further cooperation under the auspices of the India-Africa Forum Summit. Additionally, President Murmu welcomed Angola's initiative to join the International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA) and the Global Biofuels Alliance (GBA), both of which are headquartered in India.

President Lourenco underscored the mutual trust and respect between Angola and India, describing the partnership as one founded on a shared vision for prosperity. He stressed the need for the swift implementation of several memoranda of understanding signed during the visit, focusing on fisheries, aquaculture, marine resources, and consular cooperation. Lourenco also praised India's expertise in health, aerospace, and defense systems, suggesting that collaboration in these fields would be advantageous for both nations.
