Beijing: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi announced China's readiness to cooperate with Malaysia in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI), new energy, and the digital economy during a meeting with Nushirwan bin Zainal Abidin, director-general of Malaysia's National Security Council.

According to Anadolu Agency, the meeting took place in Beijing, where Wang expressed China's willingness to align development strategies with Malaysia and deepen political and security cooperation. The objective is to push for practical cooperation outcomes and elevate strategic cooperation between the two countries. Wang emphasized the potential for cooperation in cutting-edge fields, including the digital economy, artificial intelligence, and new energy, aiming to build a regional hub for cooperation on new quality productive forces.

The Chinese foreign minister also highlighted the importance of utilizing the dialogue platform for maritime issues to promote substantive cooperation and properly manage differences. He called for strengthened solidarity, coordination, and support for the multilateral trading system to contribute to global economic stability.

Wang appreciated Malaysia's commitment to the 'one-China principle' and emphasized the need for mutual support to safeguard core interests and uphold international fairness and justice.

Nushirwan, attending the second bilateral dialogue on maritime issues in the South China Sea, affirmed Malaysia's commitment to its friendship with China. He stressed the importance of enhancing multilateral coordination to jointly safeguard regional peace, stability, development, and prosperity.

China and Malaysia have sustained diplomatic relations since 1974, with bilateral trade reaching $212 billion in 2024.
