Ankara: The ceremony of Anadolu's first News Awards was held at the Turkish Grand National Assembly on Wednesday. The event, hosted in the parliament's Ceremony Hall, was conducted under the auspices of parliament speaker Numan Kurtulmus and witnessed a gathering of significant figures in the journalism industry.

According to Anadolu Agency, CEO Serdar Karagoz delivered a speech highlighting the historical roots of Anadolu, which was founded on April 6, 1920, just 17 days before the opening of the Turkish parliament. Karagoz emphasized the agency's founding purpose, which was to counter imperialist propaganda and support the National Struggle movement through accurate information dissemination. He noted that while the tools and platforms for journalism have evolved, the commitment to truth remains steadfast, with Anadolu continuing to operate in war zones, disaster areas, and diplomatic arenas worldwide to uphold humanity's future.

Parliament speaker Numan Kurtulmus underscored Trkiye's stance against oppression and injustice, emphasizing the nation's pursuit of justice and truth. He acknowledged Anadolu's crucial role as a supporter of Trkiye's global justice perspective, particularly highlighting the agency's efforts in bringing attention to the genocide in Gaza, thereby influencing the global public agenda.

The inaugural competition aims to foster journalism growth in Trkiye, uphold ethical standards, and encourage the production of reliable, high-quality news. This year marked the debut of the competition, with eight awards presented across three categories.
