Ankara: The inaugural ceremony of Anadolu's News Awards was held at the Turkish Grand National Assembly, drawing attention to the importance of reliable journalism. The event took place in the parliament's Ceremony Hall under the auspices of parliament speaker Numan Kurtulmus, with Anadolu CEO Serdar Karagoz delivering a keynote address.

According to Anadolu Agency, Karagoz emphasized the historic significance of Anadolu, which was founded on April 6, 1920, just days before the opening of the Turkish parliament, following the directive of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. He highlighted the agency's role in countering imperialist propaganda by disseminating accurate information during the National Struggle movement. Karagoz reiterated Anadolu's ongoing commitment to truthful reporting across various global platforms, including war zones and disaster areas, maintaining its foundational mission to impact the future of humanity positively.

Parliament speaker Numan Kurtulmus also addressed the audience, underscoring Trkiye's commitment to justice on a global scale. He praised Anadolu as a crucial institution supporting the country's pursuit of truth and justice worldwide. Kurtulmus noted Anadolu's significant role in bringing attention to the genocide in Gaza, elevating it to a prominent position on the global public agenda.

The competition, which made its debut this year, aims to foster the growth of journalism in Trkiye by upholding ethical standards and encouraging the production of reliable, high-quality news. The ceremony concluded with the presentation of eight awards across three categories, marking a new chapter in recognizing journalistic excellence within the country.
