El-fasher: Sudanese Information Minister Khalid Al-Ayesir announced that the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) killed Taj Al-Sir Ahmed Suleiman, the director of the Sudan News Agency (SUNA) office in El-Fasher, and detained several journalists, moving them to Nyala city in South Darfur.

According to Anadolu Agency, Al-Ayesir revealed that Suleiman was assassinated by the RSF militia at his home in the Al-Daraja neighborhood of El-Fasher, alongside his brother. Suleiman was acknowledged for his steadfast commitment to his professional values and principles under challenging circumstances until his disappearance following the rebel militia's entry into the city.

The minister expressed his hope for the release of the detained and missing journalists who were taken by the militia to detention centers in Nyala, though he did not specify how many were detained. He urged international organizations focused on journalist protection to take responsibility for following up on the case, safeguarding media workers, and ensuring their safety.

As of 1320GMT, the RSF had not released any statement regarding the incident. The RSF, which seized El-Fasher last month, has faced accusations from local and international rights groups of committing massacres against civilians.

The ongoing conflict between the Sudanese army and the RSF, which began in April 2023, has resulted in thousands of deaths and the displacement of millions, with regional and international mediation efforts failing to halt the violence.
