Tubas: The Israeli army launched a new raid early Monday in the city of Tubas and the nearby town of Aqaba in the northern West Bank, just a day after completing a four-day military operation in the area.
According to Anadolu Agency, large Israeli forces spread throughout Tubas and Aqaba, imposing a curfew that will remain in effect until further notice. Military bulldozers blocked roads, severing connections between different parts of the governorate. Witnesses reported that Israeli troops stormed multiple Palestinian homes, converting some into temporary military positions.
The Tubas Governorate released a statement noting that this operation follows an earlier assault that caused significant destruction to public and private property, resulting in hundreds of injuries and arrests. In response, the Tubas Directorate of Education announced that all schools and kindergartens would transition to remote learning due to the imposed curfew. The directorate mentioned that in-person classes will resume based on future developments.
Last week, the Israeli army executed a four-day military campaign in the Tubas governorate, affecting the city, several villages, and al-Fara'a refugee camp. Concurrently, another operation is being conducted in Qabatiya, south of Jenin, where a curfew has been enforced, homes have been turned into military outposts, and several Palestinians have been detained.
Local sources informed Anadolu that Israeli forces evacuated Palestinian families from the Jabria neighborhood near the Jenin refugee camp on Monday. The army sent reinforcements and carried out searches in the area.
The escalation of Israeli military activities in the West Bank has intensified since the outbreak of the Gaza war in October 2023. Over 1,085 Palestinians have been killed and 10,700 injured due to attacks by the army and illegal settlers. More than 20,500 people have been arrested. In a significant ruling last July, the International Court of Justice declared Israel's occupation of Palestinian territory illegal and called for the evacuation of settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
