Gaza: Palestinian groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad announced plans to transfer the remains of an Israeli captive as part of a Gaza ceasefire deal. The Qassam Brigades, affiliated with Hamas, stated that the transfer will occur at 5 pm Gaza time, with the body having been located in northern Gaza.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Al-Quds Brigades, the military arm of Islamic Jihad, revealed that its fighters discovered the body during search operations conducted Wednesday morning. This transfer marks the initial phase of the Gaza ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement implemented on October 10, which ended a two-year conflict resulting in significant Palestinian casualties.

Senior Hamas member Husam Badran recently criticized Israel, accusing it of using the remains issue as an excuse to delay fulfilling its ceasefire obligations. Israel demands the return of all its captives' bodies as a prerequisite for initiating the second phase of the ceasefire. While Israel claims two captives' remains are still in Gaza, Hamas maintains it has returned all hostages and remains.

The Gaza conflict has left 9,500 Palestinians missing, with bodies presumed under rubble, as reported by Gaza's Government Media Office. Despite the ceasefire, Israel has allegedly violated the agreement by targeting Palestinian civilians, while Hamas has affirmed its commitment to the terms and urged US intervention for compliance.

According to Gaza's Health Ministry, Israeli attacks have resulted in the deaths of at least 357 Palestinians and injuries to over 900 others since the ceasefire commenced.
