Doha: Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa met with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam and Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani during the Doha Forum, which commenced on Saturday.

According to Anadolu Agency, the meeting between Sharaa and Salam focused on enhancing cooperation and developing bilateral relations between Syria and Lebanon, as reported by the Lebanese National News Agency. Sharaa attended the forum's opening session, themed 'Justice in Action: Beyond Promises to Progress,' though the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) did not provide more detailed coverage of the event's proceedings.

Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim later hosted Sharaa for discussions in the presence of Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani. The Syrian presidency confirmed the talks took place on the event's sidelines. The Qatar News Agency reported that the emir conducted separate meetings with leaders from Syria, Somalia, Mauritania, Ghana, and Lebanon to explore ways to enhance cooperation and address regional and international issues of mutual interest.

Additionally, the Syrian presidency stated that Sharaa visited the Al Jazeera network headquarters in Doha. During his visit, he met with Director-General Sheikh Nasser bin Faisal Al Thani and staff members, toured the network's departments, and received a briefing on newsroom operations.

The two-day Doha Forum brings together global leaders, including Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares, President and CEO of the World Economic Forum Borge Brende, former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and former Microsoft CEO Bill Gates. Anadolu is the event's global communications partner.

The previous edition of the forum, held in December 2024 under the theme 'The Innovation Imperative,' welcomed over 5,000 attendees, including more than 350 speakers.
