Paris: France on Monday declared that Syria 'can no longer live under fear and arbitrariness' as Syrians commemorate the first anniversary of the fall of the Bashar Assad regime in their nation.

According to Anadolu Agency, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot expressed these sentiments on the US social media platform X. He reflected on the collapse of Bashar al-Assad's Syrian regime a year ago, marking the end of the Sednaya prison's notorious environment. Barrot emphasized that this moment should be a definitive turning point for Syria.

Barrot also called for justice for the victims and advocated for security for all Syrians. The end of Assad's nearly 25-year leadership came when he fled to Russia last December, concluding the Baath Party's rule that had lasted since 1963.
