Ankara: South Korea announced that North Korea launched rockets on Tuesday as the country's leader, Kim Jong Un, convened a meeting of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK).

According to Anadolu Agency, South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) reported that the military detected approximately ten artillery rockets fired towards the northern waters of the Yellow Sea around 3 p.m. The JCS stated that the South Korean military, in collaboration with the United States, is closely monitoring North Korea's activities and maintains a readiness to respond to any threats.

The rockets, believed to be launched from a 240mm multiple rocket launcher, are capable of reaching Seoul and nearby regions. A military official indicated that the launch might be part of North Korea's routine winter exercises, which typically commence in December.

Simultaneously, Kim Jong Un oversaw the Enlarged Meeting of the 13th Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the WPK. As reported by North Korea's Korean Central News Agency, the meeting was attended by high-ranking WPK Central Committee members, officials from various governmental and military bodies, and administrative leaders from key industrial sectors.

The meeting's agenda covered five key topics, including the review of the implementation of Party and state policies, the work of the Central Inspection Commission for 2025, and significant issues related to preparations for the Ninth Congress of the WPK.
