Washington: The leaders of the E3 group, comprising France, Germany, and the UK, engaged in a phone call with US President Donald Trump on Wednesday as intensive efforts continue on a US-led peace plan aimed at resolving the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.

According to Anadolu Agency, the UK government announced that Prime Minister Keir Starmer communicated with French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and President Trump to discuss the latest developments in US-led peace negotiations. The statement emphasized the critical nature of the moment for Ukraine, its citizens, and broader Euro-Atlantic security.

President Trump confirmed the occurrence of the phone call to reporters, describing the conversation with the E3 leaders as conducted in "pretty strong words." Trump expressed the importance of the discussions with Germany and the UK, referring to their leaders as "very good friends" and stressing the high stakes of the talks regarding Ukraine.

Trump further revealed that a subsequent meeting is scheduled to take place over the weekend in Europe, involving US and Ukrainian representatives. He noted that decisions would be made based on the feedback received from the talks, emphasizing a desire not to "waste time."

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Kyiv is near completion of a 20-point document that outlines potential parameters for ending the war. This document is expected to be presented to the US shortly. The discussions have been ongoing between Kyiv, Washington, and European capitals, focusing on a streamlined 20-point framework backed by the US, which has been revised to omit provisions not favored by Ukrainian officials.
