EU Commission Chief Stresses Importance of Upcoming Week in Ukraine Peace Talks

Brussels: European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen emphasized the critical nature of the coming week in the ongoing Ukraine peace negotiations, underscoring the EU's commitment to establishing a lasting peace in the region. Von der Leyen highlighted the solidarity among EU partners in pursuing a resolution that ensures long-term stability for Ukraine.

According to Anadolu Agency, Von der Leyen engaged with members of the "Coalition of the Willing" as diplomatic efforts gained momentum. She reiterated the EU's unwavering objective of achieving a "just and sustainable peace" for Ukraine, stressing that any peace agreement should not lead to future conflicts or undermine the broader European security framework.

The discussions also concentrated on the necessity of providing "robust and credible security guarantees" for Ukraine as the conflict approaches its fourth year. Von der Leyen indicated that she had informed leaders about ongoing efforts to secure financial backing for Ukraine for the years 2026-2027, reflecting a comprehensive approach to supporting the nation's stability and security.
