Turkmenistan: Russian President Vladimir Putin praised the history of ties with Iraq during a meeting with his counterpart, Abdul Latif Rashid, asserting that relations between Moscow and Baghdad have always been positive. According to Anadolu Agency, Putin expressed agreement with Rashid on the depth and longevity of their relations, stating, "I fully agree with you: our relations are deep and long-standing. And throughout their entire history, there has never been a dark moment," during their talks in Turkmenistan. Despite the "turbulent events" in the Middle East and Iraq, Putin emphasized that the two nations have "always maintained very good relations" and reaffirmed Moscow's support for Iraq's territorial integrity as a fundamental position. Rashid highlighted the need for a "new impetus" in their interactions, specifically requesting access to advanced Russian technologies. He mentioned the areas of mechanical engineering, infrastructure development, and agriculture as key sectors where Iraq seeks Ru ssian support. Rashid also noted the history of Iraqi engineers training at Russian universities as a foundation for this collaboration. Additionally, the Iraqi president accepted a "standing invitation" from Putin to visit Russia with a ministerial delegation to further diversify economic cooperation and political coordination between the two countries.
