Amsterdam: Dutch police on Sunday arrested 22 pro-Palestinian protesters during a demonstration in Amsterdam against a performance by Shai Abramson, who sings liturgical music as the Israeli army's chief cantor. The demonstration took place on Museumplein Square, opposite the Concertgebouw concert hall, where around 200 people gathered, chanting slogans against Abramson. The police detained 22 individuals, citing reasons such as possession of fireworks, according to broadcaster NOS.

According to Anadolu Agency, clashes reportedly erupted between law enforcement and protesters after the crowd was confined within fenced areas to ensure they remained in the designated square. Despite a preliminary injunction permitting 30 demonstrators to hold a silent protest directly at the Concertgebouw, the remainder of the protesters were obliged to stay at Museumplein as part of an agreement with the demonstration's organizers.

Earlier in the day, a brief protest occurred when demonstrators blocked two entrances to the Concertgebouw, which also led to several arrests by the police. Abramson was originally scheduled to perform at the Concertgebouw's annual Hannukah concert. However, the venue requested the organizer to replace him, a request that was ultimately rejected.

Concertgebouw stated that Abramson's involvement was "at odds with the Concertgebouw's mission to connect people with music," indicating the venue's stance on the matter.
