Turkish Stock Index Sees Slight Uptick as Trading Commences

Istanbul: Trkiye's benchmark stock index began trading on a positive note on Friday, opening at 11,346.15 points. This marks an increase of 0.10%, or 11.10 points, from its previous closure. According to Anadolu Agency, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index had experienced a rise of 0.43% on Thursday, closing at 11,335.05 points with a daily trading volume of 117.5 billion Turkish liras, equivalent to $2.75 billion. The positive momentum seems to have carried over into Friday's opening. As of 9.50 am local time (0650GMT), currency exchange rates showed the US dollar/Turkish lira (USD/TRY) at 42.8095, the euro/Turkish lira (EUR/TRY) at 50.2005, and the British pound/Turkish lira (GBP/TRY) at 57.3345. Meanwhile, the price of one ounce of gold was recorded at $4,324.75, and the barrel price of Brent oil was approximately $59.40.
