Miami: Trkiye's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will attend a meeting focusing on Gaza in Miami, US, the Foreign Ministry announced in a statement on Friday. The meeting, scheduled for December 19, will include officials from the US, Egypt, and Qatar to discuss regional issues and the ongoing situation in Gaza.

According to Anadolu Agency, a White House official revealed that special envoy Steve Witkoff will engage with representatives from Turkey, Qatar, and Egypt to deliberate on the next phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement. This meeting follows nearly two months after a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas was enacted. The initial phase of the agreement involved halting hostilities, a partial Israeli withdrawal, exchanges of hostages and prisoners, and the provision of full humanitarian aid to the Palestinian enclave.

The subsequent phase, as outlined in US President Donald Trump's 20-point plan, includes deploying an international stabilization force, disarming Hamas, ensuring full Israeli withdrawal, and establishing a temporary "technocratic" Palestinian committee to govern Gaza. However, Palestinians have claimed that Israel has frequently violated the ceasefire, which ended a two-year conflict that resulted in over 70,000 fatalities, primarily among women and children, and injured more than 170,000 people since October 2023.

The Gaza Health Ministry reports that at least 395 Palestinians have died, and 1,088 others have been injured in Israeli attacks since the truce was implemented.
