Kyiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the United States has proposed a trilateral meeting involving national security advisors from the US, Russia, and Ukraine, aiming to bring an end to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.

According to Anadolu Agency, Zelenskyy made these remarks while responding to questions from journalists on social media platforms, as reported by Ukrainian media. He expressed his support for the meeting contingent on the achievement of significant outcomes, such as prisoner exchanges.

Zelenskyy highlighted that previous meetings in this format have taken place in Trkiye, resulting in successful prisoner swaps. He also mentioned ongoing work on a peace plan proposed by Washington, with the Ukrainian delegation continuing discussions in the US.

The Ukrainian president pointed out that the most challenging topics in these discussions include Ukraine's territorial integrity, security guarantees, financial support for reconstruction, and management of the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant. He suggested that for the war to conclude, it may be necessary for Ukrainian and Russian forces to maintain their positions on the front line for the time being.

Zelenskyy noted a lack of apparent willingness from Russia to end the conflict, although he indicated that the US has conveyed that Russia is interested in ending the war.
