Germany: Germany's Ifo Business Climate Index stood at 87.6 points in January, unchanged from the previous month, according to data released Monday. The Ifo Institute for Economic Research reported that the results were based on its January Business Climate Index survey, which included responses from approximately 9,000 companies.

According to Anadolu Agency, market expectations had initially indicated a rise in the index to 88.3 points. Despite the overall stability of the index, there were slight variations within its components. The Ifo Expectations Index saw a minor decrease to 89.5 points from 89.7, while the Current Situation Index experienced a small increase to 85.7 points.

In a statement, Ifo noted that assessments of the current situation showed modest improvement, though expectations were slightly revised downward. "The German economy is starting the new year with little momentum," the institute commented, reflecting on the overall economic outlook.

The manufacturing sector experienced a notable increase in the index as businesses perceived their operational conditions more favorably, with expectations becoming less negative. Similarly, business sentiment in the construction sector improved, supported by a better assessment of current conditions. In the trade sector, the business climate also saw enhancement, as firms rated their situations more positively and expectations turned less negative.

Conversely, the service sector faced a decline in business sentiment, with companies evaluating the current situation as slightly worse and expressing increased pessimism regarding the future outlook.
