Hebron: The Israeli army conducted raids late Wednesday in the occupied West Bank, targeting the home of a Palestinian who was killed earlier in the day. Several individuals were detained during these operations.
According to Anadolu Agency, Israeli forces raided Sa’ir town northeast of Hebron. They stormed the family home of Qusai Maher Halaika, who was killed near Jerusalem in the al-Kaffan area. During the raid, the soldiers conducted extensive searches, damaged property inside the house, and detained and physically assaulted family members.
The report further indicates that the soldiers sealed off the area, forced shop owners to close their businesses, and interrogated several young men in the vicinity. The Palestinian Civil Affairs Authority stated that Halaika, aged 28, from Shuyukh town in Hebron, was shot dead by Israeli soldiers, and his body is currently withheld by Israel. The Israeli army claimed Halaika attempted a stabbing attack at a checkpoint south of Jerusalem.
Palestinian figures report that since October 2023, at least 1,109 Palestinians, including those from East Jerusalem, have been killed by Israeli forces and illegal settlers, with nearly 11,000 others injured. In July 2024, the International Court of Justice declared Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territory illegal, calling for the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
