Istanbul: Turkish civil society organizations have presented a report outlining Syria's future at an event in Istanbul on Saturday. The "Syria Report: Foresights, Proposals, and Solutions," prepared in collaboration between the Cihannuma Association, the IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation, and the Digital Hafiza Association, was unveiled at the event hosted by Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakif University.
According to Anadolu Agency, Istanbul Governor Davut Gl emphasized the value of these efforts in preventing new atrocities worldwide by learning from the past and aiding Syria in overcoming its suffering more easily. Selim Cerrah, chairman of the Cihannuma Association, highlighted that the report is the result of a four-month study on Syria and expressed gratitude to the contributing organizations.
Bulent Yildirim, president of the IHH, mentioned their ongoing work not only for Syria but also for Gaza, Africa, and globally. Nevzat Simsek, rector of Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakif University, noted that the report's perspective could aid in evaluating Trkiye's regional expertise in Syria's reconstruction. He emphasized that the report's analyses illustrate that the Syrian issue cannot be addressed solely from a humanitarian aid angle.
The report details short-, medium-, and long-term solutions for Syria and includes analyses from various experts. The program featured a screening of IHH's documentary on Syria and a panel moderated by Professor Zekeriyya Kursun, with contributions from academics and researchers.
The event was attended by notable figures, including Ali Erbas, former head of Trkiye's Religious Affairs Directorate, and representatives from various NGOs. The report, compiled by 98 authors from diverse fields, was prepared using a "persuasion, construction, and revival" approach, based on on-site assessments in Syria.
Edited by Sahin, Kahraman, Gundogmus, and Altintas, the report is available in Turkish, English, and Arabic.
