Trkiye’s International Reserves Hit Record High of $218.2 Billion

Ankara: The Turkish Central Bank's official international reserves have reached a new record high of $218.2 billion as of January 30, according to official figures released on Thursday. This marks a significant increase from the previous week's total of $215.6 billion, a rise of approximately 1.2%, or $2.54 billion.

According to Anadolu Agency, the breakdown of the reserves shows a decrease in foreign currency reserves, which fell by 2.4% to $76.6 billion compared to the previous week. Conversely, the bank's gold reserves, which include both gold deposits and gold-swapped assets, increased by 3.4%, reaching $133.8 billion during the same period.

Additionally, the total International Monetary Fund (IMF) reserve position and special drawing rights experienced a modest rise of 0.2%, bringing them to $7.8 billion. This development marks the third instance within the month that the Turkish Central Bank's reserves have set a new record, following the reserves surpassing the $200 billion threshold for the first time on January 16.
