New york: The world's largest cryptocurrency, Bitcoin, has experienced a significant downturn, losing approximately 25.1% over the past seven days. It also saw a 12.7% decline in just the past 24 hours.

According to Anadolu Agency, the price of Bitcoin stood at $63,070 as of 2200GMT, based on data from CoinMarketCap. This sharp decline has erased all the gains Bitcoin achieved following the election and swearing-in of US President Donald Trump. After Trump's election on November 5, 2024, Bitcoin's value surged from $68,000 to over $100,000 by December 17, 2024, buoyed by the pro-crypto stance of the administration.

The cryptocurrency had previously reached a historical record high of $126,200 in October 2025. Meanwhile, Ethereum, the second-largest cryptocurrency, has also faced a downturn, falling 12.9% to $1,850. The altcoin's value has decreased by 34.5% over the last seven days.
