Cooperation with Argentina Not Targeted at Any Third Party: China’s Top Diplomat

Munich: Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Friday that Beijing's cooperation with Argentina does not target any third party, according to a statement from the Chinese Foreign Ministry. Wang made the remarks during his meeting with Argentinian Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference in Germany.

According to Anadolu Agency, Wang urged the two sides to 'remain committed to the right direction of bilateral relations.' Noting that China and Argentina are economically complementary with a solid foundation for practical cooperation, Wang proposed 'deepening collaboration in economy and trade, technology, finance, and mining.' He also expressed hope that Argentina would provide a 'fair, transparent, and non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese enterprises, and welcomed Argentine citizens to take advantage of the visa-free policy for trips to explore China.'

Wang highlighted that "China's development and growth represent a reinforcement of peace and stability in the world," especially as this year marks the 54th anniversary of the establishment of ties. He emphasized that China does not engage in geopolitical contests, nor does it ask other countries to take sides. He stressed that China-Argentina cooperation is not targeted at any third party, nor should it be disrupted by any third-party factors.

His remarks come in the context of Argentina, under current President Javier Gerardo Milei, growing closer to the administration of US President Donald Trump.
