Raqqa: Four Syrian security personnel were killed in an attack by the ISIS terrorist group on a security checkpoint west of Raqqa city in northeastern Syria, according to a statement from the Interior Ministry. The attack, which occurred on Monday, targeted an Internal Security Forces checkpoint and left two additional personnel injured.

According to Anadolu Agency, a ministry statement detailed that security forces managed to neutralize one ISIS member, and efforts are ongoing to clear the area of any remaining threats. This attack marks the second incident against security forces in the area, with a similar attack occurring on the same checkpoint the previous day, resulting in the death of an attacker.

Earlier reports from the SANA news agency, citing an unnamed security source, confirmed the fatalities at the al-Sabahiya checkpoint. Following the attack, military police units were deployed to secure the location.

ISIS sleeper cells remain active in the region. The terrorist group initially gained control of the area in 2014, before being ousted by a US-led international coalition three years later. Control of the region has since shifted from the terror group YPG/SDF to the Syrian Army, which has recently regained control.
