Russia, Ukraine Clash over Overnight Airstrikes Resulting in Fatalities and Injuries

Moscow: Russia and Ukraine on Monday accused each other of overnight airstrikes that killed three people and injured seven others. Russia's Defense Ministry stated that air defenses intercepted 152 Ukrainian drones overnight, with 65 being shot down over the Belgorod region, which is near the Ukrainian border. The region's governor, Vyacheslav Gladkov, reported significant damage to energy infrastructure, leading to outages in power, water, and heat. He noted that one woman was injured in the Yakovlevsky district.

According to Anadolu Agency, Ukraine accused Russia of launching a missile along with 126 drones overnight. The Ukrainian Air Force claimed to have neutralized 105 of these drones. Oleg Kiper, head of the Odesa regional military administration, reported on Telegram that Russian strikes on the port city resulted in two fatalities and at least three injuries, causing damage to industrial, energy, and civilian infrastructure, including a drone hitting an apartment in a multi-story building without detonating.

Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, reported a strike in Zaporizhzhia that damaged an industrial facility, resulting in one death and one injury. In Kharkiv, two people sustained injuries from a Russian attack, according to Oleg Sinegubov, head of the regional military administration, in a statement on Telegram.

Independent verification of claims from both Russia and Ukraine remains challenging due to the ongoing conflict.
