Abu dhabi: The United Arab Emirates reported on Wednesday that Iranian attacks on its territory have resulted in the deaths of three individuals and injuries to 78 others since Saturday. The UAE Defense Ministry disclosed these figures in a statement issued on the social media platform X. The fatalities comprised one Bangladeshi, one Pakistani, and one Nepali national.

According to Anadolu Agency, the UAE's air defenses successfully managed to counter three ballistic missiles on Wednesday. They also detected 129 drones, intercepting 121, while eight landed within the country's borders. Since the commencement of the Iranian attacks, 189 ballistic missiles were detected, with 175 being destroyed, 13 falling into the sea, and one landing on its territory.

The ministry further reported that 941 Iranian drones were launched toward the UAE, of which 876 were intercepted, and 65 fell inside the country. Additionally, eight cruise missiles were detected and destroyed. The attacks have led to some collateral damage within the UAE.

The ministry clarified that the explosions heard across various regions of the country were due to interception operations carried out by its air defense systems. It condemned the missile and drone attacks, labeling them as a blatant violation of national sovereignty and international law. The UAE asserted its right to respond to this escalation and pledged to take all necessary measures to protect its territory and citizens.

The tensions in the region have intensified following a large-scale attack by the US and Israel on Iran on Saturday, which resulted in the deaths of approximately 800 individuals, including Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. In retaliation, Tehran has launched drone and missile strikes targeting Israel and Gulf countries hosting US assets.
