Astana: Kazakh Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev and his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelaty discussed the escalating situation in the Middle East during a phone call Saturday, emphasizing the need for de-escalation and resolving disputes through diplomacy and international law.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Kazakh diplomatic mission released a statement where Abdelaty reaffirmed that Egypt remains a safe destination for foreign tourists, ensuring that authorities are implementing all necessary measures to maintain their safety. The ministers also reviewed bilateral cooperation and future development prospects, expressing a mutual interest in expanding trade, economic, investment, cultural, and humanitarian ties.

Kosherbayev and Abdelaty further agreed to intensify high-level and senior-level exchanges of visits and to maintain regular dialogue between the foreign ministries of the two countries. The discussion took place amid high regional tensions following ongoing attacks by Israel and the US on Iran, which began last Saturday.

Iranian authorities report that the strikes have resulted in over 1,000 casualties, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and senior military officials. In response, Tehran has launched drone and missile attacks targeting Israel and Gulf countries hosting US military assets.
