Tehran: The Iranian Red Crescent Society announced that 6,668 civilian sites have been targeted in recent attacks by the US and Israel, affecting thousands of homes and several public service facilities.
According to Anadolu Agency, the Iranian aid organization released a statement detailing the extent of the damage inflicted on civilian infrastructure throughout the country. The statement reported that the attacks have struck 5,535 residential buildings, 1,041 commercial units, 14 health centers, 65 schools, and 13 facilities associated with the Red Crescent.
The organization also highlighted that numerous aid and rescue vehicles sustained damage during the attacks, with several relief workers and Red Crescent staff members suffering injuries.
The statement underscored that the attacks on civilians by the US and Israel constitute violations of the Geneva Conventions. It urged international institutions, humanitarian aid organizations, and human rights defenders to take immediate and effective action to safeguard civilian lives, ensure the safety of aid workers, and uphold respect for international humanitarian law.
