Tehran: Israeli warplanes struck oil storage depots and refining facilities in Iran's capital Tehran on Saturday evening, as reported by Israel's public broadcaster. The strikes signify the first instance of Israel targeting such facilities since it began a broader offensive against Iran last week, in collaboration with the United States.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Israeli army announced a new wave of strikes aimed at Iran's infrastructure in Tehran. Israel's public broadcaster KAN detailed that the Israeli Air Force specifically targeted oil storage depots and refining facilities in the capital. Concurrently, Iran's semi-official Mehr News Agency reported hearing explosions in Tehran following the strikes.

In retaliation to the attack on the Tehran refinery, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed that the Haifa refinery in Israel was struck by missiles, as reported by Fars news agency. This exchange of attacks is part of heightened regional tensions that have surged since the United States and Israel launched a large-scale assault on Iran on February 28, resulting in over 1,000 casualties, including Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, over 150 schoolgirls, and senior military officials.

Iran has responded with widespread retaliatory attacks targeting US bases, diplomatic facilities, and military personnel across the region, as well as multiple cities in Israel.
