Erbil: Head of Iraq's Kurdish Regional Government (KRG), Nechirvan Barzani, announced that the KRG "will in no way be part" of the ongoing conflict involving Iran. During a military and security meeting with senior officials, Barzani emphasized the importance of peace, stating that the KRG territory will not be used as a threat to Iran or neighboring countries.

According to Anadolu Agency, the meeting's statement highlighted discussions on the region's latest security developments, the impact of the Iran war, and its potential consequences for the KRG. Several measures were introduced to enhance regional security and guide media reporting on recent events.

The meeting condemned attacks by illegal groups that targeted the Kurdish region, causing casualties and property damage. It called upon the Iraqi federal government to prevent such attacks and hold perpetrators accountable, citing violations of sovereignty and threats to public stability.

Tensions have escalated following a joint attack by Israel and the US on Iran on February 28, resulting in significant casualties. In response, Tehran launched drone and missile strikes against Israel, Iraq, Jordan, and Gulf nations hosting US military assets.
