Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday received UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres at the Presidential Complex. The meeting commenced with a welcoming ceremony where the two leaders shook hands and posed for photographs. Guterres also greeted the Presidential Guard Regiment Ceremonial Unit with a friendly 'Hello soldiers.'
According to Anadolu Agency, the meeting was attended by Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Akif Cagatay Kilic, the president's chief adviser on foreign policy and security. The discussions between Erdogan and Guterres took place after the initial ceremonial proceedings.
Following the meeting, Erdogan is set to present Guterres with the Ataturk International Peace Award at the Bestepe Nation's Exhibition Hall. This award presentation marks an important gesture of diplomacy and recognition of Guterres' contributions to international peace.
