UAE Intercepts More Iranian Missiles, Drones: Defense Ministry

Abu dhabi: Air defense systems in the United Arab Emirates intercepted more incoming missiles and drones launched from Iran, the UAE Ministry of Defense said in a statement. The ministry reported that Emirati air defenses were actively responding to missile and drone threats targeting the country.

According to Anadolu Agency, the sounds heard during the interception were attributed to the air defense systems engaging ballistic missiles and drones. The ministry had previously stated that its air forces countered a new wave of Iranian attacks, involving 27 drones and seven ballistic missiles. This interception effort brings the total to 1,567 Iranian drones and 285 ballistic missiles since Iran began its attacks. Additionally, the air forces intercepted 15 Iranian cruise missiles.

The escalation in hostilities follows joint attacks by Israel and the United States on Iran on February 28, which resulted in approximately 1,300 casualties, including the then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. In retaliation, Iran has launched drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries that host US military assets.
