Saudi Arabia Intercepts Drone in Eastern Province Amid Regional Tensions

Riyadh: The Saudi Defense Ministry announced on Sunday that its air defenses successfully intercepted and destroyed a drone in the country's eastern region. The unmanned aerial vehicle was shot down in the Eastern Province, according to the ministry's official spokesperson.

According to Anadolu Agency, the interception comes against the backdrop of ongoing tensions in the region. The United States and Israel have been conducting joint operations against Iran since February 28, resulting in the deaths of over 1,200 individuals, including the then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. These actions have spurred a series of retaliatory strikes from Tehran.

In response, Iran has launched drone and missile attacks targeting various locations, including Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries. Tehran claims these strikes are aimed at 'US military assets' in the region, escalating the already heightened tensions between the involved nations.
