Doha: Qatar has made a strong appeal to Iran to halt its aggressive actions against Gulf countries, emphasizing the importance of finding a diplomatic resolution to the ongoing crisis. The call to action came from Qatar's Foreign Ministry spokesman, Majed al-Ansari, during a press briefing in Doha, where he highlighted that the Gulf nations are not involved in the current conflict.

According to Anadolu Agency, al-Ansari urged Iran to immediately cease its attacks, which he described as unprovoked. He stressed the necessity of stopping these hostilities to pave the way for diplomatic engagements. "Iran is attacking Gulf countries without any reason and must stop its attacks because we are outside the conflict," he stated. He further emphasized that a decision from Iran's foreign minister is crucial to halting these attacks and assured that Qatar is prepared to defend itself if necessary.

The spokesperson also mentioned that Qatar is in continuous communication with other Gulf countries to ensure de-escalation and counter the attacks from Iran. Importantly, he noted that Qatar's strategic reserves of goods remain untouched, indicating that the nation is prepared for emergencies. Additionally, al-Ansari pointed out the broader implications of the conflict, stating, "Any threat to maritime navigation and its freedom is a threat to us all."

The tensions in the region have been escalating since the United States and Israel commenced joint military operations against Iran on February 28. These operations have resulted in significant casualties, including the death of Iran's then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In retaliation, Iran has launched drone and missile strikes on Israel and other countries like Jordan, Iraq, and various Gulf nations, citing the presence of "US military assets" as the reason for their attacks. These retaliatory strikes have not only caused casualties but have also led to substantial damage to civilian infrastructure, including airports, ports, and other buildings.
