Jerusalem: The Israeli military announced on Tuesday that it successfully carried out an airstrike near Tehran, resulting in the death of Ali Larijani, the head of Iran's Supreme National Security Council. The military statement described Larijani as 'the de facto leader' of the Iranian regime and stated that he was 'eliminated' in a 'precise strike.'

According to Anadolu Agency, there has been no immediate response from Iran regarding the Israeli military's claim. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz mentioned that the assassination of Larijani occurred during an overnight strike.

The ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran has intensified, with joint Israeli and US attacks on Iranian targets since February 28, leading to the deaths of approximately 1,300 individuals, including the former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran has responded to these attacks with drone and missile strikes aimed at Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries that host US military assets. These retaliatory strikes have resulted in casualties, infrastructure damage, and disruptions to global markets and aviation.
