Tehran: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's recent comments, describing them as an "open disdain for Jesus Christ (PBUH)," which he found remarkable given Netanyahu's reliance on Christian support in the United States. Araghchi made these remarks on Friday via a post on the social media platform X, where he shared a video of Netanyahu's statements.

According to Anadolu Agency, Araghchi also condemned Netanyahu's "unbridled praise" for historical figure Genghis Khan, whom he called "the worst slaughterer our region has ever seen." Araghchi connected this praise to Netanyahu's current status as a "wanted war criminal." This criticism followed Netanyahu's televised address on Thursday evening, in which he controversially stated that "Jesus Christ has no advantage over Genghis Khan," arguing that "if you are strong enough, ruthless enough, powerful enough, evil will overcome good. Aggression will overcome moderation."

The comments come amidst escalating hostilities in the region. Tensions have been mounting since Israel and the United States launched joint attacks on Iran on February 28, resulting in over 1,200 casualties, including the death of then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In response, Iran has conducted drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets. These retaliatory actions have caused further casualties and infrastructure damage, while also disrupting global markets and aviation.
