Tehran: The Israeli army on Friday claimed that its forces killed Esmail Ahmadi, head of the intelligence division for Iran's Basij forces, in an airstrike on the Iranian capital Tehran. This announcement was made by the army in a post on the US social media company X.

According to Anadolu Agency, earlier this week, Gholamreza Soleimani, who was the commander of Iran's Basij forces at the time, was also killed in an airstrike in Iran. The ongoing hostilities have intensified since Israel and the US launched joint attacks on Iran on February 28, which have resulted in the deaths of approximately 1,300 individuals, including the then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Iran has responded with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries that host US military assets.
