Abu dhabi: The United Arab Emirates announced on Saturday that its air defenses successfully "engaged" three ballistic missiles and eight drones launched from Iran.

According to Anadolu Agency, the UAE Defense Ministry revealed that since February 28, the nation has been dealing with sustained attacks from Iran. The ministry reported that its air defenses have addressed a total of 341 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and 1,748 drones since the onset of the hostilities, which it termed as 'blatant Iranian attacks.'

The Defense Ministry further disclosed that these attacks have led to the tragic loss of two military personnel and six civilians. Additionally, 160 people have sustained injuries amidst the ongoing conflict.

In its statement, the ministry emphasized its readiness and determination to counter any threats aimed at undermining the country's security. The UAE remains committed to protecting its sovereignty, security, and stability, assuring the safeguarding of its national interests and capabilities.

The escalation in hostilities began on February 28 with US-Israeli strikes on Iran. In response, Tehran has launched repeated drone and missile attacks targeting Israel and Gulf countries that host US military assets.
