Beirut: Twenty people were killed and 57 injured Friday in Israeli airstrikes in several areas of Lebanon, bringing the death toll from attacks since March 2 to 1,021, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.

According to Anadolu Agency, the ministry reported in its daily update by the Emergency Operations Center that the number of wounded has reached 2,641 since the start of Israeli attacks. The death toll includes 118 children, while the number of wounded comprises 370 children.

The report also highlighted that 40 health workers were killed and 119 injured, with several hospitals, medical centers, and ambulances targeted during the attacks. The ongoing conflict has severely impacted Lebanon's healthcare infrastructure.

Meanwhile, the Disaster Risk Management Unit of the Prime Minister's Office noted that 134,616 displaced people have been registered in 64 shelters across the country. These shelters are currently accommodating 33,949 families, indicating the significant humanitarian crisis unfolding due to the hostilities.

Authorities have recorded nearly 3,000 hostile incidents since the beginning of Israeli attacks on Lebanon earlier this month. The escalation has increased tensions in the region, with Israel's Channel 12 reporting that Tel Aviv plans to occupy the first line of villages in southern Lebanon to prevent further attacks from the area.

The conflict intensified following a joint US-Israeli offensive on Iran, which resulted in 1,300 deaths since February 28. In retaliation, Tehran has launched drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, along with Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries, which it claims are targeting 'US military assets.'
